A little background

According to South West Business, Connect Group is the ninth biggest company in the South West – although very few people have heard of them. But you may have heard of the brands that operate within the Group, they include Smiths News, Tuffnells, Pass My Parcel and Jack’s Beans. We worked with the resourcing and brand teams to help position Connect Group as a leading recruiter of distribution, sales and business support professionals. The result was the Connect Group careers website.

Our approach

Our project objectives were clear: design, develop and deliver a website that:

  • Helps position Connect Group as a key recruiter within the logistics and distribution sector;
  • Strengthens the Groups overall employer brand;
  • Provides recruitment platforms for the nine brands that operate within the Group;
  • Continues to evolve with the needs of the business;
  • Is accessible across all devices;
  • Integrates seamlessly with their ATS, eArcu.

To deliver a website that will engage a wide audience of job seekers – from drivers to accountants; operations managers to customer service team leaders. A site where all content is available within a single click. One that calls upon contemporary design, bold colours, chunky fonts and engaging imagery to give the Group a strong recruitment identity and raise awareness of their brand.

Connect Group wanted a website that would build on the strength of the individual brands, while also positioning the Group as a key recruiter of driver, distribution centre, sales, customer service and business support professionals. As a result the website has a number of entry points, the homepage for those looking for jobs with the Connect Group, but also specific entry pages for each of their nine brands. For example, Tuffnells jobs.

The site also highlights the opportunities that are available across the Group, with specific landing pages for drivers, distribution centre workers, sales and retail, customer services and business support roles. Each section featuring details about the roles on offer, testimonials from Connect Group colleagues and links to current vacancies.

The website is designed to be incredibly visible to the search engines with all pages developed to be indexed for not only the individual brands, but also the specific sectors that Connect Group recruit for.

Finally, knowing that 49% of visits to their careers website are on a mobile device, the website and the ATS have been designed to support visitors in searching and applying for jobs via their smartphone.
